Aaron Ramsey has vowed to take his game to "a new level" when he returns to the Arsenal side after committing his long-term future to the club.

The 19-year-old midfielder, who signed a long-term contract extension with the Gunners on Tuesday, has been sidelined since February with a broken leg suffered against Stoke.

But after watching Arsenal's hunt for silverware peter out on all fronts towards the back end of last season, Ramsey is now looking to the future. "It was very frustrating," he told Arsenal TV Online. "But there was nothing I could do about it.

"The way I think about it is that it has happened now and there is nothing I can do about it so this is my challenge now, to get back. That is what I am concentrating on."

He added: "I think I can still develop my game a lot, and I'm in the right place to do that with the support of the manager and also a squad of very talented players. I'm convinced the next few years will be a time where my career kicks on to a new level, it's an exciting time to be part of the club."

Ramsey, capped 11 times by Wales, was well on the way to establishing himself as a key man in the Arsenal midfield before the tackle by Ryan Shawcross which left him with fractures to the tibia and fibula in his right leg.

He scored his first league goal for the Gunners in a 4-1 win over Portsmouth in August, and also claimed his first international strike in a 2-0 win over Liechtenstein in October.

"I was feeling very good," he said. "I thought I was just starting to play more games back to back so it was probably my best little spell I've had so far - and then the injury had to happen. But you can't dwell on things like that. You have to just forget about that and move on. Hopefully I can get through this as quick as possible."
